What’s the best option for a Peltier unit to help with cooling? I would be interested in attempting to make something like this as well, and my sister is an electrical engineer. I live in NC and this year’s summer has been the worst wet-bulb temps I think we have ever had on top of four major heatwaves before August. We’ve been making plans to migrate north when we have the funds, but these climate changes are already here…

So they come as little flat pieces of metal basically with some wires. You can order them with thermalpaste and a heatsink which is needed to help remove the heat from the hot side. Pretty simple things, add some voltage, one side gets cold and one side gets hot, big thing is you have to remove the heat for it to get cold with a heatsink and even better a heat sink with a fan. My idea was to basically strap the cooling unit infront of the intake of a fan, so that way you can have actually cold air blow. I have been working on a custom thing, but I found out that there are units with built in batteries already out there! So I might make a custom one for the weird fans I have from this suit, and make one to share with everyone that might work with the most common portable fan thingys

Another cool thing is you can reverse them and make them into a heater so that's cool too. But yeah, you can buy just like a few peltier squares or a big package with heatsinks and fans and stuff.

I will deff look into that and run it by my sister I am not familiar with anything electrical, if you come up with something that would be amazing! I think this is a really good idea

Hopefully I can get some time to work on this, I have no clue how to make 3d models so Idk if I can release a 3D printable model. I might do it with just basic shit from the hardware store to make it easier.

I don’t 3D model either lol. I had an idea for your phase with air filtration etc, that you could use HEPA filters on the fan intake, that’s what I’ve seen used for cheap/accessible indoor mushroom grow rooms using hydroponic cannabis grow tents (to filter room air going into the fruiting chamber). You get like a length of filter and cut it to size to fit the fan backing
